A Holistic Approach
Kitren and Megan believe in a holistic approach to practicing law. They want each client to be as successful as they can be, and know that superior representation requires recognition of each client as a complex human being and not just a court file. If there is an underlying issue impacting a client’s life, such as trauma, a mental health challenge, anger, unresolved grief, or substance abuse, they will help uncover and address it so the client can live a healthier, happier life.
Intervention and Diversion
Kitren has served on the Santa Fe Magistrate Court DWI Drug Court Program since 2011 where she has the great joy of seeing the positive side of the justice system with defendants in recovery. Megan also served on the Drug Court. In 2018, Kitren helped launch the Transformative Justice Initiative (TJI), another local alternative court program that diverts defendants charged with opioid-related crimes out of the court system and propels them toward a better life. Sometimes criminal charges serve as an opportunity for a person to make necessary changes in their life. If your case is a good fit for diversion outside of the court system, Kitren and Megan will help you explore that option.
Addressing Collateral Consequences
Being accused of a crime turns your world upside down, and the out-of-court consequences can be surprising. Kitren and Megan will help you navigate unexpected obstacles. This includes handling the media in high profile cases to protect your privacy, reputation, and employment. Even after a criminal case is resolved, they can help their clients seek or maintain professional licensure and criminal record expungement.
